The songs are great and it isn't annoyingly bubbly and is very dark in places. The artistry involved is brilliant! I also love they made the characters Middle Eastern and dress historically, rather than those cheaply made Bible story videos where everyone's European (in the Middle East!) and wears inaccurate clothing.

I think the prince of Egypt is a amazing movie but its not for little kids because its very vilonte and intense the Egyptians whip slaves with whips the main character has a nightmare and in his nightmare theirs a Egyptian who takes a mother and her baby off-screen and kills them theirs a picture shown of the Egyptians throwing babies into a river filled with alligators a Egyptian almost whips a old man to death but the main character saves him by pushing the Egyptian off the structure to his death God tells moses to put his staff down and he turns the river into blood the city gets burned down a fog comes down from the sky and kills lots of kids and they even show a kid die on-screen and the water comes down and drowns all of the Egyptians except the main characters brother theirs also a very Adult sexual innuendo where the main character orders a man to go to the bed chambers with a girl with that being said i think the prince of Egypt is for teens and adults and i dont reccomend it for anyone under the age of 13 Show more Still holds up til this day! :) Show more
In short, a must see movie for the whole family. This movie is also a great way to show some diversity and to introduce some Egyptian culture to the kids (while counting out the dark stuffs, of course). They are also giving it a brother/sibling story aspect to it, which is really amazing, you're gonna cry your eyes out! The songs are written by the legendary musical composer Stephen Schwartz, so defenetly expect EPIC songs! And also expects an epic score by Hans Zimmer. (It is fromĭreamworks Animation, so you'll understand that it is a little more adult storytelling than Disney) But still, it is a very faithful and yet epic telling of the story and the Hebrew music is very well represented.
However, it can be a little too dark and intense for the younger ones.Ī recommendation is to watch it together with an adult. This is a great way to introduce the biblical story about Moses to the kids. This is one of the best animated movies ever! Stunning animation, epic music and a powerful story.
